Let me try this again. My former trainer who lost everything after HVCC/Dodd Frank due to the inability to do inter-office transfers of appraisals, joined the dark force and soon after became a staff appraiser and still is today. One must only open there eyes to the whistle blowing cases that are pending or that have been settled to fully understand how many staff appraisers are treated. His portion of a multi-million dollar settlement ($130,000), is chump change as compared to many. With his case now settled, just ask George Mann what goes on behind closed doors. If you can't beat them, join them, file a claim and collect a settlement.

Your description of your staff appraiser experience Rob is not typical, as most appraisers do not take and keep such career paths out of love, nor are they loved by their employer. BOA/Landsafe & now Corelogic keeps 40 to 50% of the appraisal fee as charged to the borrower. At NO TIME is the appraiser to submit an appraisal that is lower in value as compared to the purchase price without a direct review from a supervisor. This direct review is code for (push value, make it happen, our inside reviewers will let it slide, etc.). This toxic environment puts direct pressure onto the appraiser while the appraiser gets no protection as it relates to his or her license. Good for you Rob, but your success appears to be in part based on where you live as it seems you have little to no competition. I have over 1,000 appraisers in my direct area (San Diego) and an additional 4,000 within a few hundred miles.
