Do you inspect the outside first or the inside? There are pros and cons to both.
I am an inside out appraiser. I started doing this after having to spend time to get a few bugs out of a customers house that had latched onto me as I was measuring their property first. A couple of spiders had found a temporary riding spot on my pants and when I got inside they decided to look for a new spot to live. After this episode I decided that I would do the insides first and then do the outside last so that the bug go with me instead of to the inside of the customers home.
My process is somewhat different. I like to start outside taking my photos, then take all my interior photos, then go back outside and measure the dwelling and finally back inside to put the room layout in the sketch and get any answers I may need to items I found during the inspection. It may seem like I'm in and out a lot, but, it has worked for my this way for over 18 years now and the homeowner has never complained. I typically explain my process when I knock on the door and ask which door they can leave unlocked so I can come and go as necessary.
